Physical Education
At Sandown Primary we recognise the importance PE plays in our curriculum and are committed to providing children with opportunities to engage fully in Physical Education. Through our PE programme we aim to:
- develop children’s competencies in a broad range of physical activities
- build confidence, resilience and collaboration
- promote a healthy and active lifestyle
- engage in competitive sport
Sandown School Sports Crew has a representative from each class from year 1 - 6. The Sports Crew have a very important role to play in school life. Working alongside Mr Anderson they help to select and organise interhouse competitions throughout the school year. They also take a lead during playtimes and help to organise games, source and provide new equipment, encouraging a range of new games to be played. The Sports Crew also get involved sometimes with the organisation of their classes PE lessons.

Cross Country competition at Northbourne Park School
This year we took 2 amazing teams to Northbourne Park school to take part in the annual Cross country run. The course and terrain being unfamiliar to our runners did not phase them at all. All of the children ran with confidence and determination. Out of 23 teams our teams finished in 7th and 18th place. A wonderful result. Well done to everyone involved.

Today we welcomed representatives from Kent Cricket association to inspire our children. The day started off with assemblies where the children learnt all about the sport and what it means to be a cricketer. Following this, children were treated to workshops throughout the day where they got to learn new skills and put existing and newly learnt knowledge into practice. A great day had by all.

All other year groups from year 2 - 6 also get the opportunity to visit the Gymnastics club each year.
