Year 5 Volcanoes
Year 5 Volcanoes
We have been learning about volcanoes- their locations, why and how they erupt and in science today, we learnt about reversible and irreversible changes and use a irreversible reaction between vinegar and bicarbonate soda to create gas bubbles to mimic a volcanic eruption and creation of pumice stone.
We used our 3D volcano models to create our volcanic eruptions.
It was lovely to see the excitement on pupils faces with excellent answers about volcanic eruptions due to tectonic plates moving and molten magma entering the vents and erupting and the understanding of irreversible chemical changes.

Year 2 Visit Deal Castle
Year 2 Visit Deal Castle
Year 2 had a lovely day visiting Deal Castle. After a chat by Mr. Palmer discussing Deal Castle's history, children had the opportunity to explore all of its grounds. They got to roam the underground tunnels, or 'Rounds' and visit its exhibition to find out how Henry VIII's turbulent reign shaped England's defences. What an amazing day!
They will be using what they discovered to support them with their new history theme about the monarchy.

Year R and 5 explore space
Year R and 5 explore space
Year R and year 5 had a visit from the astrodome, mobile planetarium learning about all things Space!!! The children really enjoyed the session. They learnt a lot about our solar system, seasons, black holes, Milky Way, asteroids and constellations. Unfortunately because it was very dark we couldn't take as many photos as we would normally! Our pupil asked some amazing questions and we now have some budding astronomers and astronauts.
